County Designated Historic Sites
  • Ho Bao was born in Qingqi, Lieyu. When he was young, he ran business in Singapore. He went home and started to construct the house since 1933 and completed it in 1936. It was named "Lanting Mansion" after the famous poem collection preface "Lanting Ji Xu" written by the well-known calligrapher Wang Xi Zhi. Thus the sign of the side wing entrance was inscribed with "Lanting Mansion".
  • Due to civil war between ROC army and PRC army, the house was used by ROC troops and military polices from 1949 to 1960s and has been a dormitory for the teachers of Shangqi elementary school from 1960s to 1970s. The art of the clay sculptures and scale of the mansion are extraordinary among other western style buildings in Kinmen.
