Hujingtou Battle Museum
Hujingtou, Lieyu

Built in 1988
  • Located at the northwest of Lieyu, Hujingtou is only 5000 meters from Xiamen, the closest point to Mainland China on Lieyu. In the wartime, Hujingtou, Dadan islet, Mashan in the northeast of Kinmen and Guningtou in the northwest of Kinmen were the broadcasting bases to send propaganda and messages across the water to encourage PRC troops to surrender.
 
Introduction
  • With an antique defensive wall and a red door inlaid with gold nails, the appearance of the museum looks like an unbeatable castle. When you enter the square of the museum, you will see a lot of heavy weapons including anti-aircraft guns, M1 57mm anti-tank gun and machine guns, revealing a strong atmosphere of the battlefield.
  • The contents of the exhibition include "The Combat Glory of the Lieyu Regiment", "Man of Iron", "Days of Guarding Kinmen", "Soldiers' Stories-Listen to Their Voices" and Observation Area. The letters and photos of the officers took in wartime, the various equipment and weapons including guns and shells used in the artillery battle are all preserved and exhibited in the hall.
 
Attractions
  • On August 19th, 1988, Mr. Hao Bo-cun, the Chief of the General Staff visited Lieyu. As there was no battle museum in Lieyu, he instructed General Song Si-lin, the commander of 158th division to construct the museum. The Museum was built and ready on January 19th, 1989.
