Granite
Lieyu
Introduction
The granite rock composed the basement of Lieyu and Kinmen. It was also the result of Yanshanian tectonic activity.
The dating result of the "granite gneiss" basement obtained an age of 139 Ma, while the intrusive "granite" rock showed an age of 101 Ma. Both of them were formed in Mesozoic Era. After the basement rock was formed deep in the crust, the pegmatite dike was also formed, then a basic rock intruded into the basement rock around 81~76 million years ago.
The basement rock was covered with sedimentary layers such as "Kinmen layer", "laterite layer" and basalt rock. Both granite and granite gneiss are the oldest rocks in Kinmen.
Attractions
Granite gneiss is mainly exposed in hills of Longpanshan, Hongshan and Hujingtou, coast of Shaxi, Guishan, Houtou, Donggang, Luocuo, Jiugong pier and Jiugong tunnel.
