Fort General
Coast of Houtou, Lieyu
Constructed in 1980
In accordance with the instruction of Kinmen Defence Command, the fort was renovated and officially given the name of "Fort General" in 1980.
Introduction
Fort General was a "Spiritual Fort of the Battlefield" during August 23rd Artillery Battle.
Historic Site
On Oct. 21st, 1958, Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo, general Wang Sheng and Ke Yuan-fen, took the warship "Success" from Shuitou pier to Lieyu to encourage the defending army and conveyed the instructions of President Chiang Kai-shek. In the fierce gun battle, Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo met and talked to major general Hao Bo-cun, the commander of the 9th division, at the fort. This completely encouraged the defending troops and therefore the position became a "Spiritual Fort" in the war with a great historical value.
