Introduction
  • Lingshui Lake is located at the southwest coast of Lieyu. It begins in the east from Yangchuo and ends at Guisan coast in the west, reaches Qingqi in the south and Shanlin beach in the north.
  • Lingshui Lake is about 1KM long and 1.5KM wide. The total area is about 386 hectares.
  • Lingshui Lake has been a salt field since Yuan dynasty. The salt production was discontinued in 1946.
  • In 1963, ROC troops rebuilt the salt field to a lake for water storage. The lake was named "Lingshui Lake", after "Yan Ling Yan Pai" (Wu's family) who live near by the lake.
  • There are two embankments in the lake, dividing the lake into three areas: the inner, middle and outer. It is now a wetland and bird protection zone of Kinmen National Park, an important ecoregion in Lieyu.
Attractions
  • Lingshui Lake strengthens the defense of Lieyu. It is not only economically beneficial to fishing and farming, but also a beautiful place to tour.
  • You can glimpse Binlang islet, Gulang islet and Baishi fort of Mainland China at the beach of Lingshui Lake. The lake is also named "Little West Lake of Lieyu" after its fascinating scenery and pure water.
  • It's one of the best places to watch migrating birds in Kinmen. From October to April of the next year, flocks of migrating birds return to the lake, is the best timing for watching birds.
  • Lingshui Lake is not only renowned for its clean and green water. When you roam along the lake, you will see plenty of beefwood line up on both flanks of the embankments, willows and reeds sway gently in the shallow. The trip will be worth your while when you walk on the footpath and enjoy bird songs, breeze and sunset at a slow pace.
