"Long Live the Republic of China" Tablet
Jiugong, Lieyu

Completed in 1973
  • The tablet was built by "Chengshi" garrison in 1973.
 
Introduction
  • The front side and back side of the tablet were inscribed with the same content: "July 7th, 1973", "Long Live The Republic of China" and "Built by Chengshi garrison".
  • The trapezoid tablet is 7.25 meters high, 2.96 meters long and 0.64~0.34 meters wide. The base of the tablet is 0.42 meters high, 5.56 meters long and 3.24meters wide.
  • The five ply tablet was painted with red words and white background with pebble paved frame (11.5cm).
 
Historic Site
  • It was an important military monument when Kinmen was controlled under the Battlefield Administration Affairs system. The original inscription read "Long live the President of Chiang Kai-shek" before changing to its current inscription "Long live the Republic of China".
  • Sitting at the main thoroughfare of Jiugong pier, the tablet is one of the important traffic landscapes preserving the battlefield culture of Lieyu.
  • The tablet was sited on the raised ground of Jiugong pier. It is an important spiritual landmark of Lieyu with special battlefield culture and tourism value, carrying the collective memory of the troops and civilians.
