Yangshan Park
Located at the north of Nantang, the south of Lieyu island. Built in 2001.
Introduction
The old name of Yangshan was Xiangshan. It is located at the north of Nantang and the south of Lieyu with an altitude of 114 meters. The top area was composed of weathered granitic gneiss covered with basalt rocks.
In 1966, the 34th division of ROC troops built "Wu-Wang-Zai-Ju" Inscribed Rock on the mountain. Wrote by Gujin, the commander of Lieyu defence area, the "Wu-Wang-Zai-Ju Inscribed Rock Construction Story" explains the story of Yangshan inscribed rock in detail. Coinciding with the 80th birthday of the ROC President Chiang Kai-shek, the ROC troops particularly built "Jieshou Pavilion" at the right side of the inscribed rock to celebrate it.
On the left side of the rock is a stone tablet inscribed by Qin Xiaoyi, the director of the Palace Museum, explaining the story of Tiandan regained the territory of Qi kingdom of Zhou dynasty as well as the story of "Wu-Wang-Zai-Ju" to encourage the troops.
A statue of Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo with an affable smile standing on the left side of the rock, presenting his friendly and easy-going style.
In 2003, an observation deck was built on the rock. Camping and barbecue areas were also added to the park at the time.
Attractions
Yangshan Park was set with footpath to the peak. On the top of the mountain is a "Wu-Wang-Zai-Ju" inscribed rock carved by the garrisons to encourage the soldiers and civilians. An elegant memorial pavilion was also built to celebrate the 80th birthday of President Chiang Kai-shek with a lifelike statue of Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo showing a kind smile on the left.
Reaching the top of the mountain, visitors will get an extensive view of the landscape, which is refreshing, enjoyable and worth a visit. The camping area on the hillside also offers a good place for barbecue and camping.
