"Maogong rock" was named by the locals. It is a kind of steel cemented rock.
The honeycomb-like red stone was cemented by steel, silicon, aluminum and calcium, features distinctive formations due to coastal erosions.
1KM long stunning geological landscape.
The size of the rocks is generally between tens of centimeters to several meters. Some are even more than hundred meters wide laid on the beach and only exposed to air at low water.
The wide intertidal zone of the Maogong rock coast is the oyster farm of the locals.

Attractions

Maogong Rock Seashore Recreation Area was once an important coast defence stronghold. It used to be a camp of ROC troops (6th battalion, L34-44 stronghold). Near the beach by the footpath is an observation deck providing a good view of Xiamen city and Shi islet. Looking out into the distance, the field of vision to be vast, completely relaxed.
