Jiugong Tunnel
No. 5-5 Luocuo village, Lieyu
Built in 1961
Jiugong tunnel was built by manpower with rough equipment during wartime. Completed in 1965.
Introduction
Jiugong tunnel, the same as Zhaishan tunnel, is a hard granite underground facility used to ensure the safety of military transportation operations during wartime.
The main tunnel of the double "T" shaped channel is 12meters wide and 7meters high. The 750meters long tunnel starts from Jiugong pier, penetrating through mountain and ends at Luocuo fishing port.
The extensive well-organized Jiugong tunnel has 4 entrances and 5 underground tunnels that can accommodate up to 52 vessels.
Attractions
The granite formed Jiugong tunnel is located at the coast cape between Juigong and Luocuo, also called "Siwei tunnel". It was designed to cope with underground war operation policy after August 23rd Artillery Battle.
