Fort Shaxi
Coast of Qingqi, Lieyu
Built in 1971
Fort Shaxi was L17-2 stronghold founded by "Tiger" garrison in 1971.
Introduction
The fort was a multi-functional military base. During the military control period, the base was completed with searchlights, .40 caliber anti-aircraft guns, .50 caliber machine guns, trenches and foxholes. The fort was also designed with pillboxes, commander's office and ammunition depots and tunnel. The tunnel contains 7 branches and 5 forts with a total length 224.8 meters and the main tunnel is 139.7 meters long.
The coast of the fort has an exceptional and stunning geological landscape. Therefore, it was given a beautiful Chinese name "Fengzui" (Phoenix's beak in Chinese), which is a cape mainly formed by granite and granite gneiss. When you stand at the coast of Nanshantou and glimpse Fort Shaxi, the coast of the fort looks just like a beak. It's amazing!
Attractions
Fort Shaxi was sited at a unique geographical location where you can get a good view of Dadan, Erdan, Binlang islets and Xiamen Island.
