Hong's House
No. 16 & 16-3, Qingqi village, Lieyu township, Kinmen county

Introduction
  • The facade of the building features symmetrical wall and exquisite brick piling. The inward side of the wall still remains the materials that were prepared during the construction period.
  • This old building presents both regional culture and characteristics of folk art, which is rare and precious.

Historic Site
  • Originally, Hong's family was planning to build a three hall styled house, but they just made it with two halls due to financial issue. The length of the side wings still followed the scale of the three hall styled house. As more and more people joined the family, they eventually built an extra wing alongside the left wing to accommodate new members. The scale of this imposing building is outstanding in Lieyu.
  • A company of ROC troops had lived in the house since the troops retreated to Kinmen in 1949. The troops didn't leave the house until 1958.
  • Hong's posterity was forced to leave the house as it was occupied by ROC troops for a long time. After the troops left the building, there had been some people lived in the house one after another, but they soon left and the house has never been renovated.
