Luo Brothers' Western Style House
No. 53, Luocuo Village, Lieyu Township, Kinmen County

Constructed during 1946~1949.
  • The brick made five foot way and the reinforced concrete (RC) construction of the building reflect the architecture in 1940s~1950s. The long and wide outer corridor of the second floor is rare seen in Kinmen. The story of Luo brothers purchased materials at Shiamen possesses special meaning for Kinmen’s architectural history.

Introduction
  • Luo brothers' western style house is a traditional five foot way building. The facade was divided into five spaces, adorned with six smoked brick pillars and brick brackets.
  • The first floor was built using flat RC arches with oyster powder plastered. The second floor was made of bricks with arches, lending the house a simple and understated beauty.
  • The fence of the second floor and the parapet on the rooftop was built using green glazed bricks and vase style railings. On the top of the door in the first floor is a sign inscribed with "Fujian Jin Ji".

County Designated Historic Site
  • The story of Luo brothers worked so hard to build the house together during the tough period in 1940s is remarkable for Kinmen's history.
  • The five foot way building is a hybrid of Chinese and western style building designed in "one entrance and three spaces" style with the outer corridor composed of 6 columns and five spaces.
